Is it really safe to allow people on Yahoo! Answers to email me? I've noticed quite a few people allow it. Do you allow email? If so, have you ever had problems with it? If not, please tell me why. Thank you!
Is allowing people to email me safe?
Safer than anywhere else. When you email through Yahoo! Answers, ALL email addresses are anonymous. You will never see anyone's address, nor will anyone see yours. That is the only reason I allow email here... because my email address isn't revealed. So yes, it's very safe. When you allow email and click to email someone else who does, a little window opens where you create your message. When you send it, it goes to Yahoo, who in turn sends it onto the person you're emailing in Yahoo! answers. That's how they are able to keep all email addresses anonymous. You'll notice that when you go to someone's profile to click to email them, it just gives there Y!A nickname, not their email address. When you allow email in your own profile, you will see you email address. But no one else sees that when they go to your profile.
Reply:Yes, I allow email. In the 2.5 years I've been on the site, I've received over 3000 emails from the users here. Of those, about a dozen were 'not nice'. Now, I DO stay out of the controversial sections, so that helps. But you can easily BLOCK someone that sends you an inappropriate message. And your email address is always hidden, as is the address of the person you are sending to or receiving from.
Reply:It's safe. once in a while you will run into a few JERKS, but you can also meet some very cool people from all around the world.
Reply:Go for it girly, had no problems yet, only experienced fun, fun, fun!
Reply:I had some ***hole attack me once because he didn't like my answer, so although safe, it's not recommended by me.
Reply:I do, but I'm a guy.
It is safe only if you've got your head on straight. Don't ever trust anyone or tell them where you live. Why don't people learn?
