How do people get to know your email password when even they are in another continent?

I heard that some people can get your email password when they are very far. I wonder if using public cyber cafes will protect me instead of using the same computer daily. How do they get to do this? is it possible?

password snatching doesn't have to be clever. e.g. put up a website that looks like it has a lot of content but you have to register first ... so you create an account with a name and password and your email.... some people use the same password for different purposes on the web, so snatcher can just see which of the passwords he has harvested also work with email. Some people also have very simple passwords that are guessable.
Reply:Actually, using public cyber cafes is the best way to assure your passwords are stollen! Since most email passwords are sent over the internet in unencyripted format they are easy to pick off.

Best advice if that is happening to you often, use an email client and a host that uses secure passwords or at least use an https (secure connection) to get webmail!

And never ever use any dictionary words or common names as a password. These can be guessed using computer models in a matter of minutes.
Reply:with some programs called keylogger they can trace every key you push on your computer.then they will send them via e-mail to the owner of the program so he/she can find out all of your passwords and the things you have typed.

But if you use some programs fore example zone alarm pro or norton firewall you can avoid your password to be stealed.
