Can you send mail to people that put their email on myspace?

If i get a persons email from myspace, and send them a commercial message becuase it is relevant to them, if you then follow all the can-spam guidelines, is this breaking the law and considered spam, becuase the person has not opted-in to recieve email... although they have becuase they have put their email on display for people to contact them... otherwise why put your email on a site?... regards.

Can you send mail to people that put their email on myspace?
Tim is incorrect. It doesn't matter if you spend them 1 email a week or 5 email a week, it is SPAM. Spam by definition is Unsolicited Mail, which means the person did not request or "Opt In" to be communicated.

It is against the law to send emails to a person who has not opted in to be contacted. The person is well within their rights to report you to the regulatory body, and you can and will be fined. There is on the other hand "implied consent", which is what you have for example, when you send a party invitation to a bunch of friends.

Many people put their email address up on their personal sites for many reasons, not 1 of which is for you to spam them.
Reply:IF they have clearly posted there email you can if they do not want contact they would toss you into there spam folder. be aware some are phishing for you email too. if you send an email you an open yourself up for spam too. so just be aware and use an account setup for bulk mailing and strong filters so you don't get the same. my personal outlook

is one email is not a spam if you hit them every day for a week then it's spam.
